It's only an empty chair...they said

For the longest time I never understood what it means for have an empty chair at church. I consistently heard people say "it's only a chair..." or "they must have been too busy to come". Understanding what that meant took me going deeper in my relationship with God, and only to realize that my mind is still too small to fully comprehend what God wants with us.

It is not until you hold a position of leadership or work as a pastor that you realize the importance of an empty chair. The truth is that there will always be an empty chair, no matter what you do. An empty chair in church means a missing brother, sister, mother, father, son, daughter. An empty chair means someone who is missing out on spending time with his/her brothers and sisters. An empty chair means that you and I still have work to do. We must still reach our community.
I encourage you today to look beyond an empty "physical" chair, and see the life that is missing out on being part of the amazing community you belong to.
An empty chair in church is an opportunity for God to do something wonderful, in the life of someone who needs Him.
In Christ,
-Andy
